About our farm
100 years ago, a Franklin purchased a plot of deeply fertile land, nestled between the Kankakee and Iroquois Rivers, 70 miles south of Chicago near St. Anne, Illinois. In 2007, Jeff Franklin, a direct descendant, found a twenty-acre sandy spot on the Franklin spread and started a vegetable farm. The extended Franklin family works under the Illinois sun with Jeff to bring his dream to fruition.
In response to the need for organically grown vegetables, Jeff began to research sustainable vegetable production and learned of the need for innovative farmers to explore ways to preserve long-term resources such as soil and water. At Deer Creek Organics fertilizers and pest control methods are carefully chosen to enhance the natural biodiversity that makes up any given plot of land.

From irrigation to harvesting, Jeff brings new ideas to organic farming to connect the need for a productive financial enterprise with great tasting and nutritious vegetables grown on a sustainable farm.
